When the Australian Breastfeeding Association, the publishers of Baby Magic asked me what colour I would like the cover there was no hesitation in choosing purple – a warm, comforting colour.

I have always loved lilac and purple form the lilac bush outside my bedroom window as a child and since then I have always had a lilac bush and purple flowers such as violets and pansies in our garden.

  • watching his eyes as he scans his mother’s face as if he needs to take in every feature of it
  • knowing his smell since he smells just like his mother did in the past few days
  • taking his chubby hand in yours and marvelling at its beauty
